Degree Show Poster

Degree show poster for University of Brighton School of Arts & Architecture Degree Shows this summer. Made in collaboration with Ivar Martinson.

While doing research on found alphabets, I found this on the johnson banks website:

"The other irrefutable truth is that they will spend inordinate amounts of time twisting and turning found objects in their hands or on their computers to make letterforms, to an almost obsessive degree."

If usually people find an object and make it into a letter or look for objects which make letters, I partially in spite of the quote, but also trying to see what happens when you make a found alphabet from the other way around — designed a typeface which then was recreated with the objects we found in local shops, studio and made ourselves.

Our aim was to show off with the materials some of the courses at uni, while trying to communicate the idea of Brighton graduates having a different perspective on things, an open mind towards new ideas and curiosity about the world around.

Although the poster got short-listed and received some really nice feedback, it wasn't chosen as the final poster for the Degree Show exhibition.
